Internships

Internship at Fullerton College: BUS295

An internship is recommended for all students while at Fullerton College.  It allows you the opportunity to receive college credit that goes on your permanent transcript while working with a local business in a career-related position.

A student enrolled in the Fullerton College Internship Program will work at a site related to their major, while earning academic credit during one term. These work-learn experiences require a number of hours of work for each academic credit earned.  They can be paid or un-paid. Faculty supervise the academic component of internships and evaluate the students’ internship experiences.

Why Consider an Internship?

In order to get a career position when you graduate from college you will need to demonstrate that you have experience working in related positions.  So, an internship helps you build that necessary experience.

An internship will also enhance the academic, career, and personal development that should enable subsequent career opportunities.  Many employers hire from their internship pool, take a look at some facts:

  • 67.7% of 2007-08 interns were offered full-time positions; 83.6% of these offers were     accepted.
  • 35.3% of employers’ full-time, entry-level college hires came from their internship programs.

An internship is distinguished from a short-term job by a “learning agenda” which is structured into the experience.  Learning activities include learning objectives, observation, reflection, evaluation, and assessment.  Remember, an internship is a valuable addition to ANY resume!

What is the next step?
